
The Österreichische Kinder-Krebs-Hilfe (Austrian Childhood Cancer Organisation)
- was founded in 1988
- is active throughout Austria
- an independent, not-for-profit society and registered charity which is financed exclusively from private donations and distinguished with the Austrian Donors’ Seal of Approval
- is a union of the six regional Childhood Cancer organisations for Vienna/Lower Austria/Burgenland, Tyrol/Vorarlberg, Upper Austria, Carinthia, Styria and Salzburg
- is a member of the International Confederation of Childhood Cancer Parent Organisations (ICCCPO)

The six regional organisations principally provide direct help to families who find themselves in financial difficulties as a result of a child’s illness.
The Austrian Childhood Cancer Organisation carries out the following tasks to represent the interests of affected families:
- Information and advice for affected families
- Awareness-raising of the general public to the taboo subject of “Cancer in Children and Teenagers” and the associated after-effects
- Influencing health policy development and decisions
- Psychosocial aftercare for children and teenagers suffering from cancer, and their parents and siblings
- Support for the Long Term Survivors: www.survivors.at
- International project in the Ukraine/Sumy
- Research activities: The Austrian Childhood Cancer Organisation finances documentation assistants and every year awards a science prize for work in the area of paediatric oncology.
